here is no doubt that education has the power to influence and change lives, attitudes, behaviour and the way we treat each other. That is why I am delighted that a collaborative partnership involving young people, community groups, educators, law enforcement agencies, policy makers and crime reduction networks, has produced the Calling the Shots education programme. Calling the Shots offers a range of teaching resources and guides designed to critically engage young people in discussions and learning about gun-related violence and anti-social behaviour in an interactive, positive and challenging way.
Through the development of knowledge, skills and values, education can bring about personal and social change. The importance of Calling the Shots lies in its productive and holistic approach to building capacity and resiliency in young people through interactive and cooperative learning.
Whether you are a teacher, youth worker, peer mentor, or parent, I hope that you will find these resources useful and incorporate them into your own practice and work with young people.
